An embarrassing video has surfaced online showing the moment a group of South Africans confronted and chased away Nigerians who were selling goods by the roadside.

In the viral clip, which has sparked outrage across social media, the South Africans were seen shouting at the Nigerian traders, ordering them to pack up their belongings and “go back home to fix their country.”

Eyewitnesses said the incident occurred in a busy marketplace in South Africa, where several Nigerian street vendors operate.

However, the caution “No trading” was later put on the spot, stressing that no Nigerians should perform trade in the place.

The angry South-African guys arrived in numbers, accusing Nigerians selling on the roadside as being too smart and clever in another man’s land.
One of the South African men berates the Nigerian guys, stressing that if they are really smart, they should go and fix their country.

The background voice said; “Go away, go and fix your country, go away.”

The Nigerian traders hurriedly gathered their wares as the angry mob advanced.

According to reports, the confrontation was allegedly fueled by growing tensions over claims that foreign nationals, particularly Nigerians, were “taking over” small businesses and job opportunities meant for locals.

Many social media users condemned the act, describing it as another episode of xenophobia, a recurring issue in South Africa that has strained relations with other African nations. Others, however, called for dialogue, urging both sides to promote peace and mutual respect.

@tboss_guy spills: “Imagine your younger brother doing this to you. I feel ashamed on his behalf.”

@Oluwaphilemon1 said; “But why do we Nigerians like to do things in some kinda way There’s a sign there that says “No Trading” but we have a strong head in a country that’s not yours.”

@johnson_gbemi reacted; “I just laugh when i see some people saying saying Afr!cans are one 😁.”

@Dazzle_3D uttered; “Some of us are just lawless and keep embarassing Nigeria abroad. Do you ever advice yourselves? There should be more legit ways to hustle in another man’s land without risking constituting called a nuisance.”

@Dgudlife1 mentioned; “South Africans keep channeling there anger to the wrong people. How can the people fix the country when the government has failed them . They don’t understand that there are South Africa in Nigeria too yet no one is bothering them.”

Note that in July 2025, Ghanaian citizens express anger toward Nigerians living in the country, accusing them of fueling insecurity and social division.

Locals allege that certain Nigerians are involved in crimes such as robbery, cyber fraud, human trafficking, and drug-related offenses.
