Owelle Rochas  Okorocha, governor Imo State has reacted to the resignation of Bukola Saraki, senate president and Kwara state governor Abdulfatai Ahmed from the All Progressives Congress (APC) saying their ecit will not in any way affect the fortunes of the party at the 2019 election.
Tuesday’s resignation of the senate president was long expected but it nontheless  took many party chieftains by surprise when it came , as many party faithful discussed its implications at the  party’s Secretariat
Governor stressed that  the defection of the two party chieftains will not stop the reelection of President Mohammadu Buhari, who he said is much stronger that he has ever been.
According to the governor, Saraki and Governor Ahmed are allowed to leave the party, saying they are responsible men who know what they want.
“You should ask me when they were joining the party. Why should ask me when they are leaving the party? I don’t know when they joined the party and I don’t even to know when they were leaving the party. So  people are entitled to their opinion how they see issues; a political party is just like a vehicle with which you get to you point of destination, an if they found that they can no longer get what they want in the APC and they want to go to other party goodluck to them”
He insisted that their exit is inconsequential to the party in the run to 2019 election.
“I don’t see any way it has affected the party negatively. The issue here is that President Mohammadu Buhari will win this election come 2019. He is much stronger on ground and would do better than what he has done before in terms of elections.
“So it is allowed. As they’re going many people are still coming to the party in their thousands. So it is neither here nor there. We should not make a big issue out of it .
“Saraki is entitled to his political opinion. If he leaves goodluck. They are all responsible men, you cannot tie them down to where they don’t want to state ” he stated .
