Emmanuel Adeniyi, a former Director in Kogi Ministry of Works, has called for dialogue between the state government and workers, to end ongoing strike by civil servants.
Adeniyi, who spoke in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lokoja on Wednesday, said it was important for the state government to start a process of dialogue to end the six-weeks-old strike.
According to him, the strike has crippled economic and other activities in the state, stressing that both parties must dialogue so as to resolve all contending issues.
He said that activities of the state government should not be allowed to remain paralysed for long, because of its long term effect on the economy.
Adeniyi also appealed to the labour union to appreciate the predicament of government, so as to arrive at an amicable solution.
The former director said there was no reason why workers should be on strike and urged governments in the country to always give priority to workers salaries, allowances and welfare. (NAN)
