A joint security operation involving the Nigerian Army, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has led to the arrest of 46 suspected undocumented foreign nationals in Ogun State.
The operation was carried out following actionable intelligence and targeted several locations in Ijebu Imushin, Ijebu Ilese and neighbouring communities.
In a statement on Sunday, Idereghi Akari, Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for the 35 Artillery Brigade, said the operation commenced on June 1 and resulted in the apprehension of the suspects during coordinated security raids.
According to Akari, preliminary investigations indicated that the individuals had allegedly been living in the state for about six months without valid immigration documents.
During interrogation, the suspects reportedly identified themselves as merchants and workers associated with QNet, an online marketing platform involved in the sale of various commodities.
The arrested individuals include 18 nationals of Burkina Faso, 23 nationals of Côte d’Ivoire, four nationals of Togo and one national of Senegal.

Authorities said the group comprises 36 males and 10 females.
Akari said the suspects had been handed over to the Ogun State Command of the Nigeria Immigration Service for further investigation and appropriate administrative actions in accordance with existing laws.
Commenting on the operation, the Commander of the 35 Artillery Brigade, Brigadier General Friday Oguche Onu, commended the troops and collaborating security agencies for their professionalism and vigilance.
He also urged residents to remain alert and promptly report suspicious activities or individuals to relevant authorities.
According to Akari, the operation highlights the commitment of security agencies to tackling illegal migration, strengthening internal security and protecting national interests.
