The Nigerian Senate has made a fresh move to increase the budget of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the 2027 general elections in the country.

It was gathered that the upper chamber is currently seeking an additional ₦30 billion for INEC to conduct the 2027 election.

The move was made by the Senate committee on electoral matters, which linked the planned increase to issues relating to logistics.

It would be recalled that INEC had initially proposed about ₦873 billion for the elections.
