Nigeria’s Super Eagles B, coached by Eric Chelle, have been knocked out of the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) following a clear 4-0 defeat to Sudan in their second Group D match in Zanzibar on Tuesday.
The uninspiring Eagles have suffered two defeats, first was the1-0 loss to the defending champions Senegal and now Sufan, thereby sealing Nigeria’s early and uneventful exit from the tournament.
This is regardless of the result in their final group game against Congo in Dar es Salaam next Tuesday.
The defeat matches Nigeria’s joint-worst result in the 26-year history of the competition, equalling the 4-0 loss to hosts Morocco in the 2018 final.
Needing a win to stay in contention, the Super Eagles B were outclassed from start to finish by a clinical Sudanese side.

Nigeria had a first-half goal ruled out for offside before an own goal and a strike from Walieldin Kedir put Sudan 2-0 ahead before the break.
In the second half, Sudan added two more goals, with Omer capping the rout by blasting a stunning effort off the underside of the crossbar into the net, leaving goalkeeper Mustapha helpless.
For Nigeria, the defeat confirmed what has been their worst-ever CHAN campaign. With no goals scored, no points earned in their first two matches, and a final group fixture against Congo now reduced to a mere formality.
