The NECA Network of Entrepreneurial Women (NNEW) successfully conducted its Annual General Meeting (AGM) today at the NECA House where key activities included celebrating the organization’s achievements over the past year and the election of new executive members to steer the Business Membership Organization (BMO) towards future growth.

The AGM began with a welcome address by the outgoing President, Mrs. Funmilayo Arowoogun, who reflected on the milestones achieved by NNEW. She highlighted various initiatives that have significantly contributed to the empowerment and development of women entrepreneurs across Nigeria.“Our accomplishments this year, from impactful training programs to successful advocacy campaigns, demonstrate our collective dedication to fostering an environment where women in business can thrive,” said Mrs. Arowoogun. “As we look to the future, today’s meeting is an opportunity to build on our successes and set new strategic goals.”

Speaking on the Advocacy drive of the Network, the Chairman of the governing council, Mrs. Edobong Akpabio highlighted the importance of Advocacy to business and particularly to women entrepreneurs who are mostly challenged by policy that may require review by government. She charged the newly constituted Advocacy committee led by Mrs. Olakitan Olaleye to ensure that NNEW maximize the opportunity of advocacy for the benefits of its members.

A significant highlight of the AGM was the election of new executives at the National and Chapters in Lagos, Abuja, Ogun, Rivers, and Kwara. The following members were elected to lead NNEW for the next three years at the National level: Mrs. Adefunke Kuyoro emerged as the new President; Mrs. Bolanle Edwards as the Vice President; Mrs. Fausat Yusuf as the Treasurer; Mrs. Olekanma Ekeleme as the Financial Secretary, and Mrs. Eniola Mayowa as the Publicity Secretary.

In her acceptance speech, the newly elected President, Mrs. Adefunke Kuyoro, expressed her gratitude and outlined her vision for the organization. “ I’m deeply honored and grateful to stand before you today as the newly elected President of this incredible and lofty Business Membership Organization, NECA Network of Entrepreneurial Women NNEW. This moment is both a privilege and a profound responsibility, and I am committed to serving our community with dedication, vision, and passion,” said Mrs. Kuyoro.

The President reiterated her commitment to building on the foundation laid by our predecessors. “Together, we will build on the strong foundation laid by our predecessors. We will create opportunities for mentorship, foster collaborations, and provide the resources needed to turn ambitious ideas into successful ventures. Our focus will be on embracing diversity, promoting inclusivity, and supporting each other through the inevitable challenges and triumphs that come with entrepreneurship.”

The NECA Network of Entrepreneurial Women AGM concluded with a renewed commitment to fostering a supportive community where women entrepreneurs can achieve their full potential and drive economic development.
