Less than two weeks after the students of Prince Abubakar Audu University, formerly Kogi State University, Anyigba Campus, cried out over frequent operations of armed robbers terrorising the community in Dekina Local Government Area of the state, the dare devil today attacked three banks and a filling station.

The incident, which according to an eye witness affected Firstbank, Union and Access banks

He eye witness account said there was sporadic shooting for almost one and half hours, 4:30 to 6pm, attacking the banks.

They left there again to another area, where they attacked a filling station along Idah road.

Although the eye witness could not ascertain the number of casualties, a security man was seeing lying in the pool of his blood dead.

“It’s been terrible in Anyigba here for almost two hours as the dare devils struck again today, (March 7) and they had a field day attacking the three banks here and carting away cash and other valuables. After the attack of the three banks, they moved to the filling station.at along Idah road and attacked it. You can see the picture of this dead man on the floor wearing the uniform of one of the banks.,” he said

The students of the university had on Monday told PUNCH Metro that some armed robbers burgled hostels off campus and carted students’ belongings, especially gadgets. They said the robberies were rampant in the school area, and claimed that no solution had yet to be proffered.

The Punch correspondent learnt that the robbers operated at midnight with guns, machetes, and other dangerous weapons. In a recent video following last Tuesday’s robbery made available to the correspondent, the doors of the burgled apartment, despite being metallic, were broken into.

A student, who identified as Michael Benedict, said the disturbing activities of the robbers was a threat to the safety of students living in the host community.
