Beneficiaries will receive between One Hundred Thousand Naira (N100,000) and Two Hundred Thousand Naira (N200,000) depending on the level and course of study, bringing the total value of the grant to about N100 million.

While making the presentation of the grant to the beneficiaries at the weekend, Hon. Kolawole LAWAL Mobolorunduro, the lawmaker representing Egbado South/Ipokia Federal Constituency at the Federal House of Representative, assured that other students not included in the first batch will be accommodated in subsequent batches

He explained further that the grant was initiated to assist beneficiaries with innovative and brilliant ideas capable of making positive impact within and outside the constituency accomplish their goals.

“The grant will also provide them the opportunity to acquire quality education to better position them for future challenges and be able to compete favourably with their counterparts in other parts of the state and Nigeria in general”, he stated.

While commending the Small & Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) and Microvis Microfinance Bank for their commitment to ensure the success of the program, Hon. LAWAL described the selection process of the first batch of beneficiaries as painstaking, rigorous but fair and objective.

Speaking on why he has chosen to provide support in the education sector, Hon. LAWAL explained that irrespective of the current challenges in the sector, “education stills forms the nucleus of our achievement in life. For the beneficiaries, having the right education will increase their chances for better career opportunities and open up new doors for them”.

He advised the students to rise above the challenges in the sector such as inadequate funding, dilapidated infrastructure, poor teaching aids, exorbitant school fees among others to remain focused on their goals for guaranteed future.

He also advised them to challenge themselves by setting achievable target/goals and remain committed to their goals irrespective of the challenges they face on their way.

His words: “Your ability to demonstrate commitment and remain focused will be instrumental to your success, your career advancement as you strive to become an agent of change”.

While advising the beneficiaries on the need to live a useful and responsible life as they prepare for the ‘real world’ KLM urged them to also use the grant strictly for the purpose it was given and cautioned them against embracing unholy behavior such as cultism “in your various institutions and remain good ambassadors of Egbado South/Ipokia federal constituency”.

As the nation prepares for another rounds of elections come 2023, he enjoined the electorates in the Constituency to vote wisely and base their choice of candidates strictly on performance and credibility.

He said further: “l want to assure you that what l have done in the last three and a half years will be a tip of the iceberg compared to what l have mapped to achieve during my second term in office if I am mandated, by the Grace of God, to represent you, the good people of this Constituency again.

“I will continue to match my words with action and remain accountable to all of you. Most of you here are already aware that the fourth pillar of my AHEAD Campaign mantra and by extension our schematic campaign manifesto is accountability which is a major principle of good governance, and a direct precursor of development”.
