It, however, said the states with the lowest average price of petro were Ogun (N143.06), Imo (N143.18) and Ekiti (N143.47).

The report said the average price paid by consumers for petro decreased to N145.30 in February from N145.70 recorded in January.

It said the price decreased by -15.8 per cent year-on-year and -0.3 per cent month-on-month in the period under review.

Meanwhile, the NBS in its “Automotive Gas Oil (Diesel) Price Watch (February 2019)’’ said the price paid by consumers for diesel increased to N225.61 in February from N225.09 recorded in January.

The bureau said the price of diesel increased by 0.23 per cent month-on-month and 7.49 per cent year-on-year in the period under review.

It said states with the highest average price of diesel were Borno (N243.67), Kaduna (N239.55) and Osun(N237.14).

It also listed states with the lowest average price of diesel to be Adamawa (N204.38), Ekiti (N205.72) and Plateau (N207.50).

The NBS said in arriving at the reports, field work was done by more than 700 NBS staff in all states of the federation supported by supervisors who were monitored by internal and external observers.

It said the price of petrol and diesel were collected across all the 774 local governments in the country and the FCT and from more than 10,000 respondents and locations.

It said the NBS audit team subsequently conducted randomly selected verification of the prices recorded. (NAN)
