He said that the transportation of electoral materials for the Presidential and National Assembly polls had commenced and would be successfully completed before the elections on Saturday.

He said the authority had put adequate measures in place in terms of facilitation and security to ensure hitch-free operations because of the importance of the exercise to the nation.

According to him, airports are equally ready to process passengers that would be travelling to and from different parts of the country for the elections.

“We are very much ready, materials have been handled substantially, we are still moving them and we will ensure that all the materials are transported safely.

“A lot of people are also moving because they are travelling to where they registered to go and vote.

“We are working with all the relevant agencies to ensure that everything is done properly,” he said.

NAN reports that the airport witnessed an appreciable increase in traffic at the domestic wing on Thursday as many people have started travelling to different locations for the elections.

A traveler, Alhaji Mudashiru Abdullahi, said that he was traveling to Sokoto ahead of the election on Saturday because he registered in the state.

Abdullahi urged Nigerians to vote for the candidates of their choice peacefully, adding that the interest and peace of the nation should be more important than the candidates.

He also urged politicians to guide their supporters towards peaceful poll, saying “there can only be election if there is Nigeria.

“I wish our nation well and I am optimistic that we will overcome this once again.
“I want to urge politicians and their supporters to think about the peace and progress of Nigeria by having the interest of the nation at heart during elections,’’ he said.

Another passenger, Mr Chukwuka Eze, said that he was sure that the elections would be peaceful irrespective of the attitudes of the politicians.

He said that with the peace accord signed on Wednesday, he believed that President Muhammadu Buhari was committed to peaceful elections.
