Group Honours US Ambassador W. Stuart Symington for fight against global terrorism

The United States Ambassador to Nigeria – W. Stuart Symington has been slated for a prestigious Award by the grassroots Orientation Emancipation International, University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN).

Also to be honoured are the president of the senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki, the Speaker of the House of Representatives – Yakubu Dogara, governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu state, his Sokoto state counterpart – Aminu Waziri Tambuwal as well as the former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives – Chief Emeka Ihedioha.

A release by the secretary of the programme – Ambassador Dr. Ifeanyichukwu Abada explained that W. Stuart Symington was being honoured in recognition of his country’s contribution to the fight against global terrorism.

The ceremony he said would take place on the 29th of this month as part of the ceremony marking the 10thanniversary lecture and Awards of the organization with the theme “National Assembly and Terrorism in Nigeria” to be delivered by Prof. Agbakoba JCA.

According to Abada, the essence of the lecture is to showcase the various ways the National and state Houses of Assembly could make laws to eliminate man’s in humanity to man, lamenting that the nation is gradually becoming a failed state as a result of ceaseless acts of terrorism, kidnapping and armed robbery.

Abada listed others to be honoured  as: chairman Forte Oil Plc- Mr. Femi Otedola – Dr. Chides Anyaegbu – Chairman Disco Group and Attorney Charlie Onyirimba, adding that the Deputy Senate president Ike Ekweremadu would be the special guest of honour. He added that invitations had equally been sent to the Ambassadors of  UK, Germany, France, Israel, Austria, Australia, Japan and Spain, Ministers of Information, Foreign Affairs, Education, Defence as well as Chairman of Tetfund and law reform Commission. In addition to the leadership of the National Assembly.
