GunmenNo less than 18 persons including a nursing mother and a youngster, have been reportedly kidnapped along the now notorious Birnin-Gwari/Kaduna road in kaduna state.
This latest incident was reported to have occurred around 11.00am today, Friday 8th June 2018.
According to reports the incident occurred at Kwanar-tsauni between Udawa and Labi.
Sources said five vehicle were intercepted by the armed men but, Mohammed Kabir, one of the drivers of the intercepted vehicles, managed to escape.
Police Public Relations Officer of the Kaduna Command, ASP Mukhtar Aliyu in a response to enquiries, disclosed that one person died while only two persons were abducted from two vehicles.

He further stated that, the police responded on time, leading to the rescue of others in the two vehicles that were involved following an engagement by the police in a gun duel with the armed bandits.
The PPRO stated that, the vehicles, one of them Gulf 3, were traveling from Kaduna through Birni Gwari on their way to Niger state at about 0900hours Friday when yet to be identified gunmen attacked them.
“We are on top of the situation. We were able to respond to the distress call and engaged the bandits in gun duel. A lady and driver of one of the vehicles were abducted and we are trailing their abductors. Unfortunately one person died during cross fire”.
