Two House of Representatives lawmakers, Abdulmumin Jibrin and Gudaje Kazaure, have ran into trouble for attacking the National Assembly over Tuesday’s impeachment threat issued to President Muhammad Buhari by the joint executive session of the two chambers.
The two lawmakers are to face the House’s Ethics and Privileges Committee, for alleging that the joint executive session of the two chambers, was  purely affairs of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP).
The resolve on Wednesday, to send the two to Ethics and Privileges committee, followed a point of order raised by Sunday Karimi, that his privileges have been breached by the publications.
Karimi told the House that Jibrin, after the joint resolutions of the two chambers, briefed the press and alleged that the resolutions taken at the joint session, were championed by the PDP lawmakers.
He therefore called for an investigation into the allegation, stressing that his personal privilege has been breached.
Supporting the motion Osai Nicholas Osai, Chairman of the Ethics and Privileges Committee of the House, also raised similar breach of privilege, as he presented a copy of a newspaper publication, where Gudaje Kazaure briefed the press alleging that Osai Osai and Kingsley Chinda, both of the PDP, were spearheading the collection of signatures from members to impeach President Buhari.
Ruling on the point of order, Speaker Yakubu Dogara, urged members of the House who do not attend plenary sessions always, to do so, to avoid quoting the proceedings of the chamber out of context.
Dogara therefore referred the two matters to the House committee on Ethics and Privileges to investigate .
However, Ossai Ossai, immediately stepped down for his Deputy to chair the committee during the investigation as he was also a complainant.
Kazaure on Tuesday, had threatened during his press briefing that they would never sit down and watch this National Assembly impeach Buhari, saying that that day would be a day of war, while Jibrin insisted that whatever the National Assembly did was purely PDP’s affairs.
Jibrin, who just resumed from his 180 legislative days suspension following his attacks on National Assembly over 2016 budget, had remained quiet, until recently, when he created a splinter group in newPDP with Senator Abdulahi Adamu, claiming that the seven days ultimatum given to the All Progressives Congress, APC, was not their collective decision.
