Retired Justice Mustapha Akanbi, the Pioneer Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related Offences Commission (lCPC), is dead.
The 85 year-old former President of the Court of Appeal and first Wakili of llorin, died in the early hours of Sunday at his GRA residence in llorin.
Reports say he had been sick.
Dr AbdulRahman Ajidagba, an associate of Akanbi and lNEC Resident Electoral Commissioner for Nasarawa State, confirned the death in a text message to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in llorin on Sunday.
Prof. Mohammad Akanbi, one of the sons of the late octogenarian and a professor of law at the University of llorin, also confirmed the death of his father.
Already the GRA residence of the late jurist has begun playing host to hundreds of symphatizers who thronged the residence to pay their conolences.
