In a dramatic twist, the house of representatives has dropped the bill seeking to amend the electoral act.
The amendment sought to change the sequence of the election in a way that the presidential election comes last, after the state assemblies/national assembly and governorship elections.
The lower legislative chamber dropped the bill during plenary on Wednesday after Edward Pwajok, a Plateau lawmaker, who sponsored the bill, said he was withdrawing it.
The lawmaker after consultations, was advised to withdraw the bill.
The bill had further compounded the frosty relationship between the legislature and executive as president Muhammadu Buhari refused to assent to it.
Observers said yesterday that the National Assembly may have bowed to pressure as the Senate may likely too the same line.
Some some other analysts are of the opinion that the upper chamber may not give in easily going by its earlier resolve to stand its ground.
