Ogundipe Succeeds Bello As UNILAG’s VC

UNILAGThe incumbent Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academics and Research, at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Akoka, Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe has been appointed the university’s 12the vice-chancellor.
The university’s Deputy Registrar, Information, Mr Toyin Adebule, in a statement said the decision was taken at the end of the council meeting.
Ogundipe, who is of the university’s Department of Botany, Faculty of Science, was ranked first by the Council while the former Dean of the university’s Students’ Affairs Unit, Prof. Kayode Amund, and the former Vice-Chancellor of the Caleb University, Imota, Lagos State, Prof. Ayodeji Olukoju, came second and third respectively.
The newly appointed vice-chancellor is expected to take over from the outgoing Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Rahamon Bello, whose tenure  ends on November 10.
He is expected to resume on November 11 as the university’s 12th substantive vice-chancellor.
Ogundipe, who was appointed as professor in 2002, was also the Director of Academic Planning and a member of many scientific organisations.
He is a life member ofthe  International Society of Plant Morphologist, Fellow of Cohort 9 of the Leadership for Environment and Development, and the Linnaean Society, London, among many others
