The  caretaker committee which would steer the affairs of the council in the next one year, was inaugurated at the council’s office at Youth House, Wuse Zone 3, Abuja.

The ceremony was attended by no fewer than 28 state chairmen of NYCN.

The composition of the committee was the outcome of the resolution of the Board of Trustees meeting, which dissolved the old leadership of the council whose tenure lapsed on Aug. 27.

The former Chairman of NYCN, Malam Murtala Garba, was re-elected to lead the caretaker committee with Mr Salaam Odimeji as Secretary, while Abdullahi Amne would serve as Treasurer with 23 others as National Executive Committee members.

Meanwhile, some youth friendly leaders were honoured with awards during the inauguration, including Alhaji Usman Bello, Vice Chairman of Sani Bello Foundation, who was honoured with Icon of Development and Youth Empowerment award, and Rep. Leg Idago, who was honoured with Order of Nigerian Youth Mentors award.

The Chairman, Organising Committee of the inauguration, Mr Emma Mbanusi, expressed appreciation to all the dignitaries, who made out time to attend.

Mbanusi appealed to well-meaning Nigerians, especially the awardees, to support the activities of the council.

The Managing Director, Chartered Accountant and Tax Practitioners, Mr Haruna Yahaya, commended President Muhammadu Buhari for creating an enabling environment for the youth to showcase their talent in agriculture and solid minerals industry.

Yahaya advised all Nigerian youths to take advantage of the various empowerment programmes of the Federal Government to contribute meaningfully to the development of the country.
