An aide to the President of the Senate Dr. Bukola Saraki has said that the Senate’s President has long been vindicated for calling out non-remittances in the oil sector.

Special Assistant to Saraki on New Media, Bamikole Omishore in a statement said that he (Saraki) pointed out the non remittance of $49 billion to the Federation Account by the former minister of Petroleum.

Omishore added that even as a senator in the 7th Assembly and member of the Senate Committee on Finance, the President of the 8th Senate did not sign the report that exonerated the then minister of Petroleum Diezani Allison Madueke.

He therefore called on the media with particular reference to Sahara Reporters to desist from involving Saraki as part of those who absolved the former minister of the alleged non-remittances.

“In 2014, Senator Abubakar Bukola Saraki was a member of the 7th Senate’s Committee on Finance that investigated the alleged unmerited $49 billion to the Federation Account.

“Many attacked him for refusing to sign the report of the committee that exonerated the then-powerful Minister of Petroleum, Allison Deizani Madueke.

“Today, Saraki who is now the President of the Senate has been vindicated.

“Be that as it may, Sahara Reporters and its paymasters want to keep shifting, moving and relocating the goalpost to wherever they deem fit simply to satisfy their own nefarious narratives,” he said.

He added that on page 68 of the report, it was clear for all to see that Saraki did not sign.

“Fellow Nigerians, Please see for yourselves: find below the linkto the full report from 2014 investigation.

“Check page 68 to confirm for yourselves: Saraki was the only senator that withheld his signature,” he said.

“I am Bamikole Omishore, and I am proud of Saraki’s stand against corruption regardless of who is in power,” he said.
