Former commissioner for Youths in Rivers State and running mate of the governorship candidate of the APC in the 2015 general elections, Asita Asita who led the protest said SARS should be commended in their fight against criminality in the state.

While urging SARS to do more, Asita informed the Commissioner of Police in the state, saying the Police arm should be reformed and not scrapped.

He claimed that only those benefiting from the insecurity would be calling to end SARS just as he criticized Governor Nyesom Wike for allegedly making criminals Kings in communities.

Other members of the Pro SARS protesters include; Dumo Lulu-Briggs, Tonye Princewill, Sekonte Davies, Lawrence Chuku, Sampson Ngeregbara and more.

Meanwhile, the Anti SARS protest was led by the People’s Democratic Party, PDP in Rivers state.

The Leaders of the PDP said the All Progressives Congress has vindicated Governor Nyesom Wike over his call for the disbanding of the Special Anti Robbery Squad.

State Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Samuel Wanosike, who led a counter protest of hundreds of youths against SARS said those who protested in favour of SARS are enemies of Rivers state.

Wanosike said SARS has become the armed gang of the All Progressives Congress.

“We are happy to associate ouself with those that called for SARS to be scrapped and not reformed. We don’t need them to be reformed because they have killed a lot of Rivers people.

“SARS Commander Akin Fakorede is being used by the APC to carry out crime and other vices in the state.”
