The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced the cost of its nomination forms for the 2027 general elections, with presidential aspirants expected to pay a total of N60m.
In a timetable released by the party, governorship aspirants will pay N30m, while those contesting for Senate, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly seats will also pay different fees.
The timetable was contained in a statement signed by the party’s National Chairman, Senator Moses Cleopas Zuwoghe, and National Secretary, Barrister Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu.
According to the party, the sale of Expression of Interest Forms for all positions will begin on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, and end on Monday, May 18, 2026.
The party said aspirants would face screening and interviews between May 19 and May 21 before they can buy nomination forms. It added that the sale of nomination forms would run from May 21 to May 23, while completed forms must be submitted on or before May 25.
The NDC also said appeals from the screening exercise would be handled on May 25 and 26, while primaries for different offices would hold on May 27 and 28.
According to the timetable, the party’s presidential primary election will take place in Abuja on May 29, 2026.
The party explained that governorship primaries would be conducted at the local government level, while aspirants for State Houses of Assembly would be screened in their states. Screening for National Assembly and presidential aspirants will take place at the party’s national headquarters in Abuja.
The statement said all aspirants would be required to sign undertakings in line with the party’s code of conduct and electoral guidelines.
The NDC assured members and aspirants of what it described as “a transparent, inclusive and democratic process” during the primaries.
Part of the statement read: “The party remains committed to a transparent and democratic process that guarantees fairness, inclusiveness and internal democracy in the conduct of its primaries.”
The party also announced that it would use the “open secret ballot” system during the primaries to improve credibility and transparency.
Under the approved fees released by the party, presidential aspirants are to pay N20m for the Expression of Interest Form and N40m for the Nomination Form, making a total of N60m.
