In a video circulating on social media, dozens of commuters were seen stuck on the road, their vehicles parked in long queues as they awaited rescue amid fears of ongoing gunfire between security operatives and the attackers.

A distressed traveller filming the scene narrated the ordeal, pleading for urgent intervention.

“Everybody, see what is happening here. ¹This is Oshoko Shoko in Kogi State between Kabba and Obajana. We are all stuck here,” he said, showing rows of halted vehicles.

We have been here for more than three hours. Kidnappers are taking over the road. We don’t know what to do… everywhere is on fire. Soldiers and these bandits are staging fire presently. Honestly, everywhere is stuck.”

The visibly shaken commuter continued calling for help, saying, “Nigeria, please come and save us here. We are in trouble. Everybody parked, nobody is moving. Kidnappers are taking over the road. Please, presently, we are here.”

The Oshokoshoko–Obajana axis has witnessed repeated ambushes in recent days, sparking fears among residents and regular travellers who say the road has become a major flashpoint for kidnappings and armed violence.

As of the time of filing this report, it was unclear whether any travellers were abducted.

On Sunday, the Kogi State Government had launched an aerial and ground security operation after armed bandits attacked a Cherubim and Seraphim church in Ejiba, Yagba West Local Government Area.

Video footage posted by Egbe Emekun Parrot on Facebook and credited to Olusegun Iselaiye on Sunday showed a state-deployed helicopter and an anti-kidnapping unit combing the area in pursuit of the attackers.

During the assault, the church pastor, popularly known as Orlando, and an unconfirmed number of worshippers were reportedly abducted.

The incident, which occurred earlier on Sunday, November 30, 2025, has deepened anxiety among residents and heightened security concerns across the region.
