Hope seems rising for the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to take over power from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as they may have resolved the lingering crisis, with Uche Secondus remaining as the Chairman till when the convention will hold in October.
The development emerged after its leaders met on Tuesday to deliberate on solutions.
Joint committees of the party’s board of trustees gathered at Wadata Plaza, the party headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday to seek solutions to the party’s numerous problems. 13 state governors, members of the national assembly, former ministers, ex-senate presidents, ex-governors and relevant party stakeholders were all present at the meeting.

Wajil Jubrin, chairman, PDP board of trustees, who spoke at the meeting, expressed happiness that the governors attended the meeting.

He added that it was evidence that the party was truly committed to ending the crisis. He appealed to party stakeholders to put aside personal interest and deliberate on the issues that will benefit the party.

Speaking on the issues plaguing the party, Secondus assured members that the party was for everyone and can reinvent itself at any point. He said that Nigerians were eagerly waiting for the party to succeed the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Addressing the press after the meeting, the Governor of Sokoto state and chairman of the PDP governors forum, Aminu Tambuwal disclosed that the party has resolved to hold its convention at the end of October.

“We are very happy to announce that we have discussed all matters and we have resolved to continue to work as a united family,” the Sokoto governor said.
