In what appears as a house divided against itself, the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has  directed immediate investigations into the suit purportedly challenging the legality of the States’ Judicial Panel of Inquiry investigating allegations by citizens against officers of the defunct Special Anti-Robbery Squad, (FSARS) .

Frank Mba the Force Public Relations Officer and Deputy Commissioner of Police confirmed the development in a statement on Thursday.
The suit was considered by stakeholders an affront on the Federal government through vice president Yemi Osibanjo’s NEC which directed all the state governors to institute the panels as part of resolutions to pacify the Endsars protesters.

Consequently, Adamu, had denied knowledge of the suit and gave the order for full investigations.
The development, which some analysts see as lack of coordination among the hirachy of the force is coming on the heels of trending reports in the media on Thursday that a suit had been filed seeking an order to stop further sitting of the panels set up by the 36 States Governments and the National Human Rights Commission.

Adamu expressed the disapproval of the Force Management Team to the suit and ordered investigations into the alleged role of the Force Legal Section, including its Head.

The Force Legal Officer has been queried over the issue and may face further sanctions if found guilty of dereliction of duty, Mba said, adding: “The IGP reiterates the commitment of the Force to fulfilling all its obligations with regards to the disbandment of the defunct SARS, the ongoing Judicial Panels and all other police reforms.”
