Major, Captain, Seven Others Feared Dead After ISWAP Invasion Of Military Base In Borno

At least nine soldiers have been killed including two senior officers and unspecified numbers critically wounded when the fighter of Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP) attacked a military base near Bama town in Borno State on Saturday.

An impeccable source told BusinessDay that the ISWAP terrorists gained access to the base when Muslims were breaking their Ramadan fast around 6:30 pm and launched an offensive on the Forward Base operations at Banki junction, along the Bama–Gwaza Road.
According to the source, following the gunfire between the troops and the outlawed group, two officers and seven soldiers lost their lives in the attacks.
“They attacked the 194 BN in Banki junction near Bama town in Bama Local Government Area of the state.

A security source also confirmed that two ambulances conveying the bodies of slain soldiers and wounded soldiers in action arrived at the 7 Division of the Nigerian Army Hospital at noon on Sunday.
