The National Working Committee, NWC, of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has suspended the Party’s National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu; Legal Adviser, Kamaldeen Ajibade; Deputy Legal Adviser, Okechukwu Osuoha; and National Organizing Secretary, Umaru Bature for one month following a court ruling that halted the party’s planned national convention.

The National Publicity Secretary of the party, Debo Ologunagba, disclosed this on Saturday, while addressing the press.

Ologunagba said the decision followed an emergency NWC meeting held on Saturday, at the party’s office, Legacy House in Abuja.

“The NWC, in line with the party’s constitution, came to the following conclusion: the National Legal Adviser, Kamaldeen Ajibade, SAN; Deputy Legal Adviser, Okechukwu Osuoha; National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu; and National Organizing Secretary have been suspended for one month and referred to the PDP Disciplinary Committee,” he said.

The affected officials are believed to be allies of Nyesom Wike. Reports indicate they have not been attending recent party meetings.

They were suspended for one month and referred to the PDP Disciplinary Committee for further action.

On Friday, an Abuja High Court ordered the party to halt its planned convention scheduled for November 15 and 16, 2025, in Ibadan, Oyo State.

In response, the PDP announced it would appeal the ruling, while maintaining that preparations for the convention will continue.

Internal disagreements within the party are among the reasons the suit challenging the convention was filed.
