No casualty was recorded at the time of filing this report as operatives of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service have responded to the fire outbreak.

According to a witness, a gas leak from a shop along the road caused the explosion.

“Contrary to what people are saying, the leak that caused it happened from a small gas shop not far from Kenzo filling station,” the witness told TheCable.

“The shops beside the one where the explosion happened have been burnt to the ground. Many of them are electronics shops filled to the brim.”

Already, firefighters have erected a barricade to prevent residents who trooped out from getting closer to the inferno.

Despite the presence of officials of the Lagos fire service, details of the incident were not known.

Commenting on the incident, Nosa Okunbor, the spokesperson of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), said, “everything is under control”.
