*DSS Arrests Suspended Governor
*Names Folashodun Adebisi Shonubi Acting Governor

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has suspended the Central Bank Governor, Godwin Emefiele from office with immediate effect.

This is a sequel to the ongoing investigation of his office and the planned reforms in the financial sector of the economy.

Emefiele has been directed to immediately hand over the affairs of his office to the Deputy Governor (Operations Directorate), who will act as the Central Bank Governor pending the conclusion of investigation and the reforms.

Consequently, Folashodun Adebisi Shonubi has been appointed acting governor by President Bola Tinubu. 
The CBN deputy governor (operations) who trained as a mechanical engineer, went into marketing, moved into information technology and became a central banker.
Emefiele’suspension was contained in a press release by Willie Bassey Director, Information, Office of Secretary to the Government of the Federation, dated 9th June, 2023.

Also the just suspended Governor has reportedly been arrested by the Department of State Security Services (DSS).

MetroBusinessNews (MBN) reports Emefiele was arrested by the DSS shortly after he was suspended from his position as the CBN Governor.
