Anger As ASUU Again Extends Strike By Twelve Weeks, Clarke Berates Politicians For Crisis In Polity

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has extended the ongoing strike by eight weeks, the president of the union, Prof Emmanuel Osodeke said on Monday.
Osodeke said this was to give the government enough time to satisfactorily resolve all the outstanding issues.
But Nigerians have continued to express their anger at the seeming ineptitude of government to their, plight, asking for God's intervention and as well 'clean our land'.
The implication according to some of the parents is that "poor parents who could not afford to take their children to private universities should blame themselves for being poor," even when it is apparent that the environment has never been conducive for genuine entrepreneurs except those hanging on government officials or closer to those in government."
This is "unfortunate and unacceptable," another parent laments.

The decision was taken after the ASUU National Executive Council meeting which started on Sunday night at the Comrade Festus Iyayi National Secretariat, University of Abuja.

At the meeting, ASUU accused the Federal Government of being unserious.

ASUU is demanding the release of revitalization funds for universities, renegotiation and implementation of the 2009 FGN/ASUU agreement.

But Nigeria can currently boast of over 40 aspirants under the ruling All Progressives Congress, either in power or hangers-on, that are ready to or already paid the N100million for presidential nomination forms and N40 million by the major opposition party by their 15 aspirants.
The ruling APC may end up netting over 40billion as nomination fees into various offices into their purse for possible war chest for the 2023 elections.

Commenting on the N100million for nomination forms, Robert Clarke, SAN and elder statesman said Nigerians are made to see and perceive democracy as the 'worst form of government in Nigeria.
Clarke, who spoke on Arise Television, The Morning Show, said while he did not see anything bad legally,' it portends the typical 'sowing that will have to be reaped.'He added that our politicians are' disgrace to the country. '
