The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) says it will deploy about 1,000 personnel to ensure the success of President Muhammadu Buhari’s campaign visit to Jigawa on Feb. 2.

The corps’s Public Relations Officer in the state, Adamu Shehu, stated this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Dutse on Wednesday.

“The Jigawa State Command of NSCDC is fully prepared for the campaign visit of President Muhammad Buhari.

“The command is to deploy 1,000 personnel ahead of Mr President’s campaign visit to Jigawa.

This is to ensure adequate security measures before, during and after the visit.

“Uniformed officers will be stationed at strategic places where Mr President is scheduled to visit.

“Officers drawn from intelligence unit were already spread all over the state for intelligence gathering, sharing and utilisation before and during the visit to ensure prompt response and action to any form of threat,” Shehu said.

He advised leaders of political parties in the state to warn their supporters to shun all forms of violence and thuggery, saying that any act capable of causing break down of law and order, would not be treated lightly.

“It is a known tradition that people of Jigawa are peace loving, accommodating and hospitable, as such, that gesture should be extended to the visitor.

“It is on this note that the command enjoins the general public to cooperate with the officers to ensure smooth and safe stay of Mr President,’’ he said.

He also urged members of the public to report suspicious activities of humans to the nearest security formation for prompt action.
