Lalong sends N15.2bn supplementary budget estimate to assembly

Gov. Simon Lalong of Plateau on Thursday forwarded a N15.2 billion supplementary budget estimate to the State House of Assembly for approval.

Mr Joshua Madaki, Speaker of the House, who read the request to his colleagues during plenary on Thursday, said that it was in tandem with section 121 of the 1999 constitution as amended.

He explained that in the supplementary budget, more than N6.3 billion would go into recurrent expenditure while capital expenditure would gulp N8.9 billion.

Madaki quoted Lalong as adding that the supplementary budget became imperative to complement the implementation of the over N127.5 earlier appropriated for 2018 fiscal year.

The governor was also quoted as urging the assembly to consider and expedite the passage of the supplementary budget into law.

The House unanimously approved Nov. 27, for its second reading.
