NSE: Share prices rebound, market capitalisation up by N70bn

NSEThe crucial indicators of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) closed on a positive note on Friday with the market capitalisation rising by N70 billion or 0.60 per cent.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the market capitalisation closed at N11.703 trillion compared with N11.633 trillion on Thursday.

Similarly, the All-Share Index which opened at 31,864.80 increased by 193.48 points or 0.61 per cent to close at 32,058.28.

Guaranty Trust Bank led the gainers’ table, growing by N2.90 to close at N36.90 per share.

Zenith Bank followed with a gain of 70k to close at N24, while Flour Mills also gained 70k to close at N17.20 per share.

Dangote Sugar added 35k to close at N12.85, while Mansard increased by 17k to close at N1.90 per share.

On the other hand, Nestle topped the losers’ chart, shedding N20 to close at N1,480 per share.

Dangote Cement trailed with a loss of N1.50 to close at N203.50, while Total declined by 90k to close at N199.10 per share.

Eterna Oil was down by 45k to close at N4.50, while C & I Leasing declined 21k to close at N2.06 per share.

The banking equities dominated the activity chart with Guaranty Trust Bank emerging the most traded, exchanging 47.64 million shares worth N 1.747 billiion.

Diamond Bank came second with an account of 22.84 million shares valued at N21.15 million, while United Bank for Africa sold 21.46 million shares worth N167.71 million.

FBN Holdings traded 13.34 million shares valued at N98.52 million, while Access Bank exchanged 12.34 million shares worth N95.14 million.

In all, investors bought and sold 164.56 million shares valued at N2.79 billion in 2,272 deals.

This was against the 349.25 million shares worth N2.45 billion exchanged in 2,595 deals on Thursday.
