Ministry generates N15.2m as revenue in ten months in Edo

Samuel Ogbemudia StadiumThe Edo Ministry of Youths and Special Duties said it had generated about N15. 2 million from January till date against the proposed N24 million target for the ministry in 2018.

Mr Mika Amanokha, the state Commissioner for Youths and Special Duties, disclosed this on the floor of Edo House of Assembly during the ministerial briefing which began on Monday.

Amanokha said the revenue was generated from the use of facilities at Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.

”The ministry would have been able to meet the target of N24 million if the renovation work at the main bowl of the stadium was completed,” he said.

The Speaker, Rt Hon. Kabiru Adjoto, expressed dismay on the growing cases of young girls engaging in prostitution, particularly around the Ihama road axis of Benin city.

Adjoto urged the Commissioner to ensure that the ministry rid all the adjoining streets around the legislative quarters in Benin City of girls waiting for prospective customers.

Responding, the Commissioner said that he was not aware of activities of the girls around the Ihama road axis, but said that the ministry would do a surveillance around the area to address the problem.
