Alleged $25b NNPC Contracts : Civil Society Groups Commence Sit-Out Protest In Abuja

  A group of Civil  Society group tagged #BuhariActOrQuit in Abuja has commenced a peaceful sit- Out  in Abuja to compel President Muhammadu Buhari to act and take a decisive action against some of the principal officials who have been alleged of fraud and corruption in the ongoing NNPC alleged vontract scandal .
The protesters converged at the Unity Fountain  with their placards with various inscriptions;   Where Is SGF Report ? N120 Billion Bribe of IG of Police; Who Signed $25billion NNPC Contracts ?
Addressing journalists at the event the President Public Interest Lawyers  League , Abdul Mahmud said that President  Buhari should not sweep the #25 billion contract scam  at NNPC under the carpet and must allow the law to take its cause adding there have been allegations of fraud and looting levelled against some principal officials of this government and it is the responsibility of government to institute an investigation on these allegations .
He  noted that if it is established that  these infractions are made against the law and laid down rules the government is charged with the responsibility to ensure that these officials are brought to book.
 “Mr. President has refused to either initiate an investigation or say a word on these individuals whose hands are so filthy  ” Abdul stated.
On the controversial N43 million found in the Osborne, Ikoyi, Lagos apartments , Abdul pointed out that an investigative panel was set up headed by the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and a report submitted to that effect . He added that the report of the panel have never been made public.
” You are on record when you said that you will fight corruption with your last drop of your blood but now corruption is starring us in the face . Mr. President fight corruption”
Also speaking at the event the President Coalition  In Defence of Nigeria Democracy,  Mr.Dare Atoye Ariyo charged the President to plug the leakages and loopholes where money are being looted by the top government officials noting that when this is done the President will have moral justification to request for $ 5.5 billion loan request.
Ariyo advised the National Assembly not give approval to the loan request sent by the President noting that there is no guarantee that the loan will not be looted.
” The first assignment is to stop the looting before requesting for loan ” Ariyo noted “
Also speaking the Leader of #OurMumuDonDo  Charles Oputa popularly known as (Charly Boy) urged well meaning Nigerians particularly youth to come out and join the protest for the sake of their unborn generation.
