The President of the National Council of Women Societies, (NCWS) Nigeria, Mrs Gloria Shoda, on Sunday called on Nigerians to have faith and remain steadfast in promoting peace and unity no matter the challenges.
Shoda in a goodwill message to Nigerians to mark this year’s Independence anniversary said that the indivisibility of the country was not negotiable because there was no better place than Nigeria.
The NCWS president advised Nigerians to keep faith that the country would overcome the present challenges confronting it.
“I want to use this occasion of the 57th anniversary of Nigeria’s independence, on behalf of the NCWS to enjoin the leadership of our nation in various fields to salute the Nigerian spirit.
“I salute the extraordinary resilience and patriotism of the average Nigerian.
‘’When all seems down and out, we always find ways of overcoming our adversaries.
“As we mark this year’s anniversary amidst the current challenges in the polity, we must keep faith, that we will overcome our difficulties.
“We will ultimately triumph over our current socio-economic and political challenges.
“On behalf of all Nigerian Women, I want to use this occasion of our National Independence to call on the political leadership on the need to do more to show selfless commitment to building a strong and sustainable country,” she said.
Shoda called on the Federal Government to ensure that any restructuring of Nigeria should be done without violence.
” We don’t want the blood of our husbands, children, brothers and women to be spilled when it can be avoided.
“We can achieve the restructuring through peaceful dialogue. Nigerian Women want peace.” she added.(NAN)
