Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, today arrived Kigali, the Rwandan capital to join other leaders in the continent and around the world to participate in the ceremonies for Paul Kagame’s inauguration as the country’s President for a third time.

According to NAN, while in Kigali, the Acting President will attend President Kagame’s inauguration ceremony scheduled for 10 a.m. local time at the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali.

Prof. Osinbajo is also expected to attend the inauguration luncheon organized for visiting presidents as part of the inauguration ceremony.

The Acting President will return to the country later on Friday.

NAN reports that the Rwandan capital is wearing a new look as the country welcomes visitors and even citizens from abroad for Kagame’s inauguration.

NAN also reports that the Kigali International Airport was a beehive of activities early Friday morning as visiting VIPs arrived the country for the ceremonies for Kagame’s inauguration.

Security is also beefed up on major routes to the venues for the swearing-in ceremony and the inauguration luncheon.

NAN also gathered that movement around Kigali metropolis is partially restricted.

President Kagame won a landslide victory in the small African state’s election, securing a third term in office and extending his 17 years in power.

His election came after a constitutional amendment, which ended a two-term limit for presidents and theoretically permits Kagame to remain in power until 2034. The amendment was approved by 98% of voters.

In the final tally for the election, he won almost 99% of votes cast, as announced by Kalisa Mbanda, chairman of the National Electoral Commission in Rwanda.
