Kaduna: 672 intending pilgrims transported— Official

The Kaduna State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board on Wednesday, said it had transported 672 intending pilgrims to Saudi Arabia for this year’s hajj.

The board’s Public Relations Officer, Malam Yunusa Abdullahi, said this in a statement inKaduna.

Abdullahi, who said the intending pilgrims were transported by Med-View Airline, adding that the first flight carried 452 pilgrims while the second carried 220.

He said that the pilgrims transported to Saudi Arabia were from Kachia and Kauru Local Government Areas.

Abdullahi said that the air transportation of the state intending pilgrims was inaugurated on Aug. 1 by the Governor Malam Nasir El-Rufai at the Kaduna International Airport in a ceremony attended by top government officials.

He said the governor was represented by the Speaker of State House of Assembly, Alhaji Abdullahi Shagali.

‘‘The State Governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai later bid them farewell at the Kaduna International Airport and urged them to be good ambassadors of the state while in the Holy land.’’

The public relations officer said that the board had made all necessary arrangements to ensure the security and comfort of the intending pilgrims during the hajj.

‘‘Already, third batch of the intending pilgrims from Igabi, Kajuru and Jemaá Local Government Ares are to be transported on Wednesday,’’ Abdullahi said. (NAN)
