The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Plateau  extended its road safety campaigns to hospitals in Jos, to ensure protection of people on the nation’s roads.

The FRSC Sector Commander in the state, Mrs Pat Emeordi, said at the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) that the rationale of the campaign was to check road accidents.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Emeordi addressed women at the Obstetrics and Gynaecology department, Child Welfare Clinic and Paediatrics Out Patient Clinic of the hospital.

According to her, the campaign will be an avenue to educate parents on some child safety tips while crossing the highways.

“If we agree that children are the leaders of tomorrow, then we have to work hard to ensure they are safe so as to take over from us in the future.

“So, the rationale of bringing campaign to the hospitals is to sensitise nursing mothers and parents so as to enable them to understand the need for child safety while on the highways.

“Road safety is everybody’s business, but we are taking the pains to go to every corner of the society to educate people so as to save lives in general,” she said.

Emeordi said that the Command would sustain the campaign for the next three months. (NAN)
