The Rivers State House of Assembly led by Martins Amaewhule has adjourned its sitting indefinitely.
The adjournment of sittings by the leadership of the Assembly comes amid the growing crisis rocking the state’s political space.
Presiding over the sitting on Friday, March 14, in Port Harcourt, Amaewhule announced to his colleagues that the plenary has been adjourned indefinitely.
The decision of the House to adjourn its sitting comes less that 24 hours after the Rivers State governor, Siminalayi Fubara was prevented from re-presenting the 2025 appropriation bill as mandated by the House.
The governor had on Thursday made efforts to re-present the state’s budget to members of the House of Assembly but could not gain access into the premises housing the complex,.

Later that day, the governor subsequently wrote to the State House of Assembly informing the lawmakers of his intention to re-present the budget on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, or any other day within March that the House may deem fit.
Some anakysrs say the action may be another wsy of frudtrsting and possibly preventing the governor of representing thr budget as ordered by the Supreme Court.
