Nigeria, again, suffered a nationwide blackout on Sunday, June 12, as the national electricity transmission system popularly known as grid suffered total collapse
But, Nigerians are amuse at the way the political elite are taking them for granted, subjecting, everything, including their lives to politics.
Consumers are amuse at the acclaimed and recently promised generation of Political Megawatts, when in reality, they are experiencing darkness.
At the last convention of the ruling All Progressives Congress, (APC), for instance, most of the presidential aspirants, rather than telling their audience how they intended to solve the myriads of problems facing the country, were rather involved in self deceits, eulogising the government for providing ‘everything’ for Nigerians.
In one breadth some listed their achievements to include solving insecurity and electricity challenges and in another breadth, contradicting themselves that they will tackle these issues when they are elected.
But the reality is steering us at our faces now with incessant backouts.
This is the fourth time the National gride would suffer collapse in 88 days.
Yet, to some of our politicians and aspirants, it’s still thumbs up for government.
The total collapse occured 56 days after the grid crashed to zero on April 8, just 28 days.

Specifically, the latest collpase, which rocked the country on Sunday evening, is the fourth time within the space of 90 days, and the fourth in 2022, the last being on 8th April 2022.
The first two collapses occured on March 14 and 15 2022.
Power distributors in Kaduna, Abuja and other parts of the country said they have not been able to receive bulk electricity from the national supply line.
“We regret to inform you that the power outage being experienced in our franchise states is due to system collapse of the national grid. The collapse occurred at about 18:47 pm this evening hence the loss of supply on all our outgoing feeders,” Kaduna Electric announced on Sunday evening.
“Power supply shall be restored as soon as the national grid is powered back,” the statement added.
It is unclear how many states are affected Sunday’s grid collapse.
While some collapses were not made public because they lasted for a short period, many others were made public and lasted days in some cases.
