PDP Holds NEC Meeting May 4 As Hayatu-Deen Denounces Northern Presidential Aspirants’ Consensus Arrangement

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is to hold its 96th National Executive Committee (NEC) on Wednesday, May 4.

The party disclosed this in a notice issued by its National Secretary, Sen. Samuel Anyanwu, in Abuja on Saturday.

He urged all members of the NEC to attend the meeting.
This is coming on the heels of denouncement of the concensus arrangement by some presidential aspirants from the Norther region
“For the record, it must be stated that the four candidates seeking a consensus had agreed that the process had collapsed prior to this announcement. The candidates could not reach a compromise resulting in the decision of our principal, Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, and Governor Aminu Tambuwal to discontinue the process,“ a statement from Mohammed Hayatu-Deen Presidential Campaign said.
However, Anyanwu said that the meeting that would start by 2pm would hold at the NEC Hall, PDP National Secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Abuja.
Though the agenda of the meeting was not disclosed, it is expected that the party would among other things discuss issue of zoning of the presidential ticket, the party’s primary and other issues related to 2023 general elections.
According to the release signed by Sen. Isa Galaudu, Director-General, Mohammed Hayatu-Deen Campaign Organizational in Sunday, “The Mohammed Hayatu-deen Presidential Campaign and its principal are aware of the announcement of Governor Bala Mohammad and Senator Bukola Saraki as the preferred Northern consensus candidates for the People’s Democratic Party by the Prof. Ango Abdullahi-led committee.

The purpose of the meeting yesterday was for candidates who participated in the consensus process to express their gratitude to the Northern Elders for their efforts in seeking a consensus.
Unfortunately, one of the candidates had other plans which led to a press conference that misrepresented the outcome of the closed-door meeting.
After this announcement, we consulted with the Northern Elders’ Forum and agreed that the campaign of Mohammed Hayatu-Deen would henceforth proceed independently to maintain the sanctity and integrity of the People’s Democratic Party.
The sham news conference we witnessed yesterday reiterates the fact that Nigeria needs a new breed of leaders. We believe that true leadership should be built on the principles of truth, integrity, and equity.
Going forward, the focus of our candidate, Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, is to prove to our great party and Nigerians in general that he is the best man for the job, as we proceed towards a truly democratic process at the PDP primaries.
Mohammed Hayatu-Deen is a business professional with years of experience leading successful organizations that have provided jobs and opportunities for millions of Nigerians. His goal is to build a Nigeria that works for everybody. He remains the best candidate for the office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.“
