Capt. Muhtar Usman, the Director-General, Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), confirmed the development in a statement on Wednesday in Lagos.
Usman said the team’s visit was to observe the implementation of Aviation Security (AVSEC) measures and to also conduct inspection on recommended TSA security procedures for its air carriers (Delta Airlines).
“The TSAs Annual Airport Assessment visit will hold from Jan. 28 to Feb. 1.
“Members of the TSA team are Laura Loya (team leader), Edward Cloniger and Mitch Mankowski.
“It will be recalled that the team came on similar assessment visit in 2018.
“As a matter of policy, the TSA of the USA on an annual basis visits countries where American airlines operate.’’
Usman, while welcoming the team to Nigeria, promised NCAA’s cooperation and support toward accomplishing their assignment.
He expressed the authority’s readiness to close in real time any open items that might be noticed.
Usman said that safety and security were the most crucial element of civil aviation, adding that NCAA would continue to collaborate with stakeholders in ensuring safe and secure flight operations.
