The Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) has paid another  installment of the 33 per cent pension arrears owed pensioners under the Defined Benefit Scheme (DBS).

A statement by PTAD management in Abuja on Tuesday indicated that categories of pensioners  paid were the Police, Civil service and Parastatal  pensioners.

For police pensioners, it stated that 12 months installments were paid, making a total of 24 months paid to date while 18 months were still outstanding.

For civil pensioners, it indicated that six months installments were paid, totaling 30 months paid to date while 12 months were still outstanding.

It further announced that six months were also paid to parastatal pensioners, making 18 months while 36 months were still outstanding.

It said all pensioners under the Customs, Immigration and Prisons Pensions Department had already been paid full 33 per cent  arrears since August 2016.

PTAD stated that the latest payment was made from the service wide vote released last week by the Federal Ministry of Finance .

It stated that it would settle the outstanding arrears of the 33 per cent  increment as soon as additional funds were provided.

It urged all its pensioners to be patient and continue to exercise vigilance against the activities of fraudsters.

“Always remember that the payment of pension and other retirement benefits is free“, it stated.

It further  advises pensioners to report any incident of extortion to the Directorate or the security agencies.
